The model 5024 brake caliper is a very compact and high torque brake caliper. It is basically the same design as Model 5027 but only employs one actuator. All parts are interchangeable with Model 5027 except for the lever and brake shoe.
The spring applied actuator provides very accurate control over the brake torque. The more pressure is accumulated in the actuator, the lower the torque. At zero pressure, maximum torque is obtained.
It is important to keep the clearance between the disc and brake shoes at an absolute minimum in order to maintain maximum torque. Minimum clearance also means fast response. The actuator clevises can be adjusted to compensate for lining wear. In cycling applications a tremendous amount of compressed air can be saved by a shorter stroke of the actuator piston.
Our standard 2 x 4 disc series can be used with this caliper for optimum energy absorption.
